As the Arizona weather starts warming, the state is planning on adjusting operations at two of its COVID-19 vaccination sites.
Starting April 4, the 24-hour COVID vaccine site at State Farm Stadium in Glendale will only offer appointments from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. The state’s top health official Dr. Cara Christ said this is to prevent equipment, staff and patients from overheating. The state is finalizing plans for indoor locations
“We have a couple of really great indoor options that we are evaluating to move to in April but I will say our goal is to stay on-site until we have administered one million vaccinations, she said.
In addition, the state is closing down its vaccine site at the Chandler Gilbert Community College on April 3, and will open a new site in the East Valley on April 5. No operational changes are expected at the sites at Phoenix Municipal Stadium and the University of Arizona, though the university has the ability to move its work into an indoor site if need.
