The option of recalling judges and elected officials has been a part of Arizona since statehood.
In fact, that provision of the state constitution caused President William Howard Taft to veto Arizona’s initial resolution to become a state because he opposed the inclusion of recalls.
But the current political environment includes recall efforts against Gov. Doug Ducey, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and the mayor of Kingman— among others. And California Gov. Gavin Newsomis facing a serious recall push.
