University Of Arizona's COVID-19 Vaccination Site Struggling To Fill Appointments

The University of Arizona's COVID-19 vaccination site has between 100 and 200 unfilled appointments each day, university officials said during a Monday press conference.

This could be due to lack of transportation, trouble making an appointment or vaccine hesitancy, said former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Richard Carmona, who’s leading the university’s COVID-19 response.

He — along with university President Robert Robbins — urge community members to come and get their dose.

“Bobby and I and just the whole team encourage everybody to get that vaccine as quick as you can because you are not only helping yourself, you are helping your community, your country and the world by creating herd immunity," Carmona said.

State officials have announced that starting Wednesday morning,  Arizonans ages 16 and older will be able to register for an appointment at state-run vaccine sites like UA.
