Maricopa County To Open COVID Vaccine Appointments To Residents 16 And Older

The Maricopa County Public Health department is following the state’s lead in opening COVID-19 vaccine registration to Arizonans 16 and older starting Wednesday morning. This means Maricopa County residents will be able to make an appointment at any site run by the county or the state. They can also find appointments at participating pharmacies and health care centers.

As a reminder, only the Pfizer vaccine is approved for 16- and 17-year-olds. Adults 18 and over can get any vaccine.

Currently, there are around 34,200 appointments available for this week through Sunday at state-run mass vaccination sites across the state, according to a Tuesday email from the Arizona Department of Health Services.

Here's how those appointments break down by site:

  • State Farm Stadium: 21,700
  • Phoenix Municipal Stadium: 9,700
  • Chandler-Gilbert Community College: 1,900
  • University of Arizona: 1,200

ADHS will release an additional 80,000 first-dose appointments at 11 a.m. on Friday at state sites, including the new site opening in Yuma. More vaccine appointments will be released every Friday.

People can sign up for an appointment at   podvaccine.azdhs.gov. Those without computer access or needing extra help registering can call 1-844-542-8201.
