Brown University Professor: Tutoring Could Restore Pandemic Learning Losses

Educators and parents have expressed deep concerns about how much of an effect the pandemic has had on how students learn. Could the last year end up being a lost one, as many kids were being taught English, math, and science via the living room rather than a classroom?

Recently, former U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan brought up the idea that an increased commitment to tutoring could help students catch up more quickly.

Brown University associate professor Matthew Kraft had been doing research on tutoring prior to the pandemic and has deepened his work over the past year or so. The Show spoke with him about some of his conclusions.
