All counties in Arizona have now opened COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to all adults.
Arizona’s state health department opened eligibility to all adults at its vaccination sites in March, but not every county has a state-run vaccine site. So some counties had still been limiting eligibility by age or occupation. Now, all counties are offering shots to all adults.
The Pfizer vaccine is approved for anyone over 16, the vaccines from Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are approved for those 18 and up. Because the Pfizer vaccine has more cumbersome shipping and storage requirements, it is not currently available in all Arizona counties.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report about 40% of adults in Arizona have already gotten at least one dose of a vaccine. Health experts say about 80% of the population would likely need to be vaccinated to stop the virus from spreading.
