Grand Canyon National Park East Entrance To Reopen

The east entrance to Grand Canyon National Park has been closed during the coronavirus pandemic, but it will reopen Thursday, April 8.

When the Navajo Nation was hit by the coronavirus, it imposed limits on travel and visitation.

The U.S. Park Service helped limit traffic by closing the east entrance to the Canyon temporarily.

That entrance, on state Highway 64, allows travelers to cross part of the reservation and visit overlooks such as Desert View.

Although the road has reopened, masks are still mandatory on the reservation, and local roads will remain closed to nonresidents.

There will be no services at Desert View until further notice.
