Gov. Ducey Prepared To Send Arizona National Guard To Southern Border At State Expense

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey says he’s prepared to send the Arizona National Guard to the border to deal with an increasing number of migrants trying to cross, even if it means at the state’s expense.

Ducey continues to criticize the Biden administration’s handling of illegal border crossings.

“The border traditionally is a federal issue and a federal focus. The Biden White House has ignored the situation at the border in Arizona and I think across the southern United States. So we have options as a state," Ducey said.

Ducey says he thinks the border was "largely stable not that long ago.'' Since then, he says, there have been 180,000 people apprehended and nearly 18,000 children in the care of the federal government.

He also says the state is working with ranchers, border sheriffs,  and leaders at the county level, but will include the National Guard as part of the solution if the Feds don’t do more to alleviate the situation.
