As the intense Southwest drought continues, there has been discussion for a number of years about when — not if — Arizona’s allocation of Colorado River water would be reduced. It sounds very much like that will happen in 2022.
Earlier this month, the Arizona Department of Water Resources and the Central Arizona Project issued a joint statement about the expected reductions and included a phrase that they will “fall largely to central Arizona agricultural users.”
