Toolmaker Stanley Black & Decker To Open Plant In Sonora Capital

The toolmaker Stanley Black & Decker is going to open a plant in the Sonoran capital Hermosillo.

Once open, the facility is expected to directly employ around 1,800 people, according to a state release. The roughly $50 million plant will make power tools for outdoor use, construction and woodworking.

“A selection process was conducted among other places, cities in Mexico,” said Elías Barrios, operations and special projects vice president in Mexico. “After evaluating factors of security, personnel, costs and land availability, Sonora was picked, specifically Hermosillo.”

It will be the company’s fourth plant in the country.
