Phoenix Unity March Canceled Over Fears Of Neo-Nazi Group Demonstrating In Area

Saturday night’s unity march in Phoenix designed to bring attention to hate crimes and racism directed against Asian-Americans and other minority groups was canceled.

It was to be held at Margaret T. Hance Park in downtown Phoenix as a way to bring together multi-ethnic coalitions to speak about cross-cultural issues and experiences of racial disparity.

Organizer Leezah Sun said she found out a neo-Nazi group planned to demonstrate in the vicinity.

“The neo-Nazis would use innocent bystanders as bait. Once we heard they would be in attendance we had no choice but to back out,” said Sun.

The anti-fascist group ANTIFA was also expected to be in attendance.

Sun said the march will be rescheduled for next week in the same location.
