G22 Fire In Eastern Arizona Is 70% Contained

The G22 Fire near Cibecue on the Fort Apache Reservation is 70% contained as of Saturday morning.

Fire spokesman Steve Johnson says firefighters are slowly being allocated elsewhere as this fire decreases in size.

“We’re just basically sort of in that wind-down phase, where our firefighters are patrolling, mopping up any hotspots they see that are threats to the containment lines,” said Johnson.

The G22 Fire has burned 2,026 acres of land in eastern Arizona and is one of three wildfires still burning in the state.
