It started with a simple question: “What is your name?” and expanded to becoming a symbol for activism and awareness in the homeless community.
A bus emblazoned with “Let’s Be Better Humans” rolls through the neighborhoods of Phoenix and other cities to deliver food and clothes to communities in need. This movement is part of the "I Have A Name" project, which started as photography series documenting the homeless communities here in Phoenix.
The idea for "Let's Be Better Humans" began with a social-media hashtag and T-shirt sales and culminated with a giant bus stocked with resources.
Jon Linton is the founder of “Let’s Be Better Humans.” He said it’s rewarding to help the less fortunate and encourages other people to do the same.
“The next time you see somebody at a stop light that’s holding up a sign that says that they need help, don’t look forward or look away or look into your phone," Linton said. "Roll your window down, ask them their name, say hello, acknowledge that they are fellow human beings because it is dehumanizing to be on the streets.”
Linton says the bus has been used as a social justice instrument to support various causes.
