The Arizona Department of Health Services has advised health care providers to resume use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine after an 11-day pause following a safety review.
The state issued its recommendation Friday, in accordance with the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC said the benefits of the one-dose shot outweigh a rare risk of blood clots, which appeared primarily in women between 18 and 49.
State health director Dr. Cara Christ said Arizonans can be “confident” in the safety and efficacy testing of all COVID-19 vaccines approved for emergency use.
Information provided with the vaccine will advise patients about extremely low potential for blood clots.
