The light rain that fell in the Valley earlier this week was a refreshing change and a brief respite from the drought that has gripped the area for years. And any precipitation can help lessen the chances for destructive wildfires in the immediate future. But the fact remains that the wildfire season is expanding as we get drier and the impact of climate change grows.
ASU Emeritus Professor Steve Pyne is a fire historian and author of numerous books on the subject. The Show spoke with him about Arizona’s fire season and why he thinks there may be a "fire age" on the horizon. They started by talking about the expansion of the wildfire season from a few months to most of the year.
