Opposing ads about a bill in Congress that would reverse right-to-work laws have been launched in Arizona.
Both sides hope to influence Sens. Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly’s position on the legislation aimed at protecting the right to organize labor unions.
The coalition of labor unions called the AFL-CIO has launched bilingual ads in Arizona, urging people to tell their senators to support the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act.
“Because getting a fair return on your hard work shouldn’t be this hard,” the ad’s narrator said.
There’s also a new statewide digital ad campaign against the bill by the Associated General Contractors of America.
“We’re a right to work state and this law will preempt our state’s rights,” said David Martin president of the Arizona chapter.
Sinema’s spokesperson said she does not preview votes.
Kelly’s spokesperson said he’s evaluating the bill.
If both Democrats back the PRO Act, the filibuster rule means it would still need Republican votes to pass the Senate.
