The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors on Monday may be facing more subpoenas.
An attorney for the Arizona Senate’s audit of Maricopa County’s election results threatened over the weekend subpoenas against the county Board of Supervisors if they don’t provide passwords for routers and voting machines.
Supervisor Steve Gallardo says the board was given until the end of the weekend to provide the information, or they will face a subpoena.
But Supervisor Steve Gallardo says the county does not have the passwords.
“We have given them everything they’ve asked for in the subpoena, we have tried to comply, but they continue to insist that we have the passwords. Passwords do not belong to the county, they belong to the vendor," Gallardo said.
According to Gallardo, Dominion Voting Systems is in possession of the passwords.
The county says that if routers were provided, it would cost as much as $6 million to replace them while Cyber Ninjas, the State Republican Senate’s auditing firm, is examining them.
Gallardo says if those responsible for the audit were able to access the voting machines, the county’s entire data system could be exposed.
“This does not pertain to the audit at hand, this could lead to sensitive information like healthcare and criminal justice records, Social Security numbers, this is personal, sensitive information that should be protected,” said Gallardo.
County employees are the only people with Social Security numbers stored in the system, but medical and criminal records for every voter would be accessible.
According to Gallardo, Dominion Voting Systems, not the board of supervisors, is in possession of the passwords.
