President López Obrador: U.S. Shares — And Requests — Information On Alleged Crimes By Mexican Governor

The U.S. government has shared information on alleged crimes committed by Mexican Gov. Francisco Garcia Cabeza de Vaca.

And it’s also asking for information from Mexican authorities about him, according to Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

“[The Department of Justice] sent information, but it also is asking for information from the Financial Intelligence Unit,” he said.

Materials from the DOJ detail alleged illegal money transfers and banking irregularities, according to a releasefrom Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office.

On Twitter, Cabeza de Vaca responded to that statement, saying he has requested prompt access to the Justice Department materials and that he expects them to help establish his innocence.
