The Justice Department is appealing the ruling of a federal judge in Washington, D.C., which struck down the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) eviction moratorium.
The ban on evictions was set to expire at the end of June, but the judge ruled the CDC overstepped their authority when they issued the rule stopping landlords from evicting their tenants who didn’t pay their rent; the judge in that case, though, did issue a stay of her ruling.
As the case continues, and the end of the moratorium looms regardless of what happens inside a courtroom, how are tenants and landlords handling the situation?
To learn about that, The Show spoke with Pamela Bridge, director of advocacy and litigation at Community Legal Services, which works in Maricopa, Mohave, La Paz, Yuma and Yavapai Counties. She’s advising tenants and landlords to talk about their situations, to see if they can come to an agreement.
