GOP Leaders In Arizona Legislature Work To Win Support For Flat Tax Proposal

The proposal for a new state budget agreed to by GOP legislative leaders and Gov. Doug Ducey is expected to officially be unveiled May 24 in the form of a set of bills.

But behind the scenes, leadership is still trying to convince some rank-and-file Republicans to support the package.

Among many other provisions, the new spending plan would move Arizona to a 2.5% flat income tax, and some lawmakers are concerned about the estimated $1.5 billion the plan would take out of the state’s coffers each year.

To learn about this move and to talk about what’s to come this week at the state Capitol, The Show spoke with Howard Fischer of Capitol Media Services.
