Play Ball! Diamondbacks Offer Free Baseball Tickets With Pfizer Vaccines

The Arizona Diamondbacks are giving away free tickets to upcoming games. They’ll go to the first thousand baseball fans who show up to Chase Field next month to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

Now that the Pfizer vaccine is approved for kids 12 and up, Josh Rawitch with the Arizona Diamondbacks said it was the perfect time to combine public health messaging with sports fandom.

"We're trying to find ways make sure that we do our part to get people vaccinated," Rawitch said. “As younger age kids can do it, we wanted to create a stress-free, comfortable way for them to come down to the ballpark and feel very, very safe."

On June 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Arizona Department of Health Services and Blue Cross Blue Shield will administer vaccines at the downtown Phoenix ballpark. Kids (or grownups) can get their shot, get a selfie and even run the bases. As for those free tickets — they’ll be given out June 26, when the team will host an event to administer second doses.

Rawitch said some walk-in spots may be available, but appointments are recommended. Appointments can be booked at  podvaccine.azdhs.gov or (844) 542-8201.
