Arizona’s COVID-19 vaccination rate for adults continues to trail the national average. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 51% of all Americans have had at least one dose of a vaccine, while less than 47% of Arizonans have had a shot.
Recent survey results from the Census Bureau provide some insights into Arizonans’ vaccine hesitancy.
More than one in 10 adults across Arizona (11.3%) and the country (11.4%) say they probably or definitely will not get vaccinated. Arizonans’ top reasons are: concerns over side effects, don’t trust the vaccines and don’t believe they need them.
Another 5.6% of Arizona adults are unsure whether they’ll get vaccinated with most saying they’ll wait and see if it’s safe.
The CDC says the vaccines are safe and effective and will continue to undergo the most intensive safety monitoring in U.S. history.
