Hot dry weather has increased the chances for wildfire throughout the state, and there have been a number of blazes, though none have been large.
Firefighters report that the McDonald Tank Fire at Fort Apache, which has burned more than 3,500, is about two-thirds contained.
The Courthouse Fire has burned more than a thousand acres in the desert near Tonopah, about 50 miles west of Phoenix but should be fully contained soon.
Tiffany Davila, of the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, said the fire had plenty of fuel.
“The fire was burning within the Centennial Wash, southwest of Tonopah, so it was burning in some very, very heavy vegetation,” Davila said.
Last week, the Spur Fire burned at least a dozen homes in Bagdad.
