A spokesperson for the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office on Friday said the Spur Fire, which charred 150 acres in Bagdad and left 24 homes damaged or destroyed, was not the result of negligence.
The department’s Chris Wilson said in a prepared statement the cause was instead accidental.
“The investigation into the fire revealed it was caused by construction equipment, which was being used to work on a road in the area. This fire was found to be completely accidental. This road project had been planned and approved and there was no recklessness involved,” he said.
Wilson also said, “there will be no criminal charges sought, nor was there found to be any negligence in the crew’s actions.”
