VP Harris Visits Mexico Amid Tensions Between Both Nations

MEXICO CITY — Vice President Kamala Harris is traveling to Mexico City after a trip to Guatemala. Her agenda is expected to focus on immigration, but there are many issues at stake between both nations.

Duncan Wood is an expert in U.S.-Mexico relations at the Wilson Center, a think tank in Washington. He says both nations are still transitioning after the Trump administration.

“It’s still much of a relationship where they’re sort of feeling each other out, trying to work out modes of cooperation,” Wood said.

Wood says tensions will eventually need to be addressed. Unlike the Biden administration, Mexico promotes less private investment, more use of fossil fuels and the limitation of independent institutions.

The Show spoke with KJZZ's Michel Marizco to discuss expectations of vice president's trip.
