As Arizona Daily Sun Shifts Printing South, Staff Bid Farewell To Flagstaff Printing Presses

The quintessential American morning has historically been depicted with a cup of coffee, maybe some toast or bacon and eggs — and a newspaper.

The history of the American newspaper can be traced back to 1619.

In the 19th century, cities began forming local publications.

For generations, the newsroom printing presses have grown and evolved. But with the dawning of the internet, print journalism is finding itself muscled out by digital “papers.”

The Arizona Daily Sun in Flagstaff is the latest publication to “stop the presses.”

Sam McManis, feature writer for the paper, has this obituary for the Daily Sun press.
