The Coconino National Forest, the city of Flagstaff, the Sedona Fire District and Yavapai County are among the jurisdictions around Arizona moving into stage two fire restrictions on Friday.
Forest spokesperson Brady Smith says with the lack of rain and onset of above normal temperatures, these restrictions are necessary.
"You cannot have any campfires of any kind unless it's like a [liquefied petroleum gas] pressurized fuel that can be turned on and off," Smith said.
Among other restrictions, smoking is limited.
Smith says the restrictions may last until there is significant precipitation.
