The current fiscal year ends in less than three weeks. And while Gov. Doug Ducey and Republican leaders in the Legislature have reached an agreement on a new state budget, that deal does not have the votes to make it through the House and Senate.
And neither chamber is expected to take any action on the package of bills when they reconvene June 10. So could there be an opening for Democrats on the budget, when up until now, they’ve generally been kept on the sidelines?
