It’s been days since preliminary results showed that the mayor in the Sonora capital Hermosillo had likely lost her bid for re-election. But she is refusing to accept those results until a full recount is complete.
The recount got underway Wednesday after incumbent Célida López insisted she would not concede because of what she calls inconsistencies at several polling places in the municipality.

La lucha llevará varios días, falsificando resultados y manipulando actas no podrán robarle a MORENA su victoria.
She believes a recount will show that ballots were improperly recorded at some locations, including some of the nearly 6,000 null or protest votes apparently cast in the race.
Current results show López behind the top vote-getter Antonio Astiazarán, the candidate for a coalition of three major Mexican parties, by more than 6,000 votes, or about 2.6%.
López is a member of the president’s Morena party in Sonora, where local party leaders have expressed support for the recount.
Astiazarán, on the other hand, declared victory several days ago.
¡Ganó Hermosillo!
