Grand Canyon National Park Implements New Fire Restrictions

Due to warm and dry weather conditions and the increasing risk of fire, Grand Canyon National Park is implementing new fire restrictions, according to a U.S. Department of the Interior National Park Service release.

Starting Friday, the North Rim and South Rim of the Grand Canyon, as well as the Inner Canyon, are under Stage 2 fire restrictions. This includes campgrounds, residential areas, backcountry sites and developed recreation sites.

The restrictions mean all wood burning and charcoal fires, including campfires and barbequesm are prohibited. Outdoor smoking is also not allowed, unless in an enclosed vehicle.

More information can be found at  nps.gov/grca/learn/management/firemanagement.htm
