The Maricopa County Department of Public Health wants to hear from residents 12 and older about their pandemic experiences. The information will be used to distribute millions of dollars throughout the community.
The online survey is meant to help identify which areas have been impacted in specific ways.
Lilliana Cardenas, who manages the health department's office of community empowerment, said the questions about physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being focus on experiences both pre- and post-pandemic.
“So before the pandemic, was this also the issue or was it not an issue? And so that’s going to really help us see some of these patterns in different parts of the community to really be able to identify where COVID has had a harder impact,” she said
The survey is available online through June 30. Cardenas said the health department has provided small stipends to grassroots groups to push the survey through their networks.
“We are also doing surveying at most of our community vaccine events,” she said. “While people are in observation we have volunteers there who are medical reserve corp who are walking around with tablets and encouraging people to take the survey. They can either take it directly off their phone by taking a picture of the QR code that takes them to the surrey and prompts them to identify which language.”
The survey is available in 13 languages. Preliminary survey results should be available online to the public by July 31. Maricopa County Health will use the information to prioritize how to distribute $10-15 million in grants.
