Gov. Ducey visited Nogales, Arizona, on Wednesday, to highlight a year of prosperity between the state and its largest trading partner, Mexico.
Ducey participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony for an enormous cooled storage unit used for cross border produce. In 2020, Arizona and Mexico conducted $16 billion in trade. The lion’s share passed through Nogales’ Mariposa Port of entry.
Ducey also touted his relationship with Sonoran Gov. Claudia Pavlovich. The two governors have worked closely on projects benefiting both states for several years and Ducey credited that relationship for the state’s stronger ties to Mexico.
Ducey said he is concerned about the U.S.’ ongoing restrictions on nonessential travel across the border. Several politicians on both sides of the border have now called for the travel ban to ease.
