The national quits rate, or the rate at which employed people leave their job for a variety of reasons, has increased as more businesses return to a pre-pandemic state.
Doug Walls, Arizona labor market information director, says an increased quits rate means that more people are looking for better job opportunities.
“Typically with the quits rate, what tends to happen is that in times of economic hardship or in economic downturns, you’ll see the quits rate decline as those who have jobs are less willing to voluntarily leave those positions,” said Walls.
The quits rate was at 1.6% during the early stages of the pandemic, but has increased to 2.7% as of April 2021.
