Former Arizona state health director Will Humble says the emergency powers allowed to Gov. Doug Ducey and the current state health director, Dr. Cara Christ, should be ended.
He gave them credit for using the emergency powers well early in the pandemic, but criticized their use more recently, including the choice to block mask and vaccination policies at state universities.
“They’re using their authority to tell universities what to do this fall. All ASU was looking to do was recognize that unvaccinated students are a bigger risk than vaccinated students,” said Humble.
Humble says he thinks Ducey and Christ’s decisions on other topics, like disallowing businesses from asking customers about vaccination status, are overly invasive.
