About 300,000 acres have burned across Arizona, as firefighters battle more than 20 wildfires. There are thousands of firefighters and equipment spread north to south.
Tiffany Davila with the state department of forestry and fire management says last year, there was a lot of fire activity but it was concentrated in certain areas of the state.
“This year there is widespread activity across the board, so it’s keeping everybody very very busy and firefighters stretched thin across the state," Davila said.
Davila says the continued drought across most of the state is another factor this year. That, coupled with extreme temperatures and heat warnings have made conditions worse.
