Two KJZZ reporters have been recognized by the Public Media Journalists Association (PMJA) for their work covering violence in Sonora, Mexico.
Kendal Blust and Murphy Woodhouse of KJZZ's Hermosillo Bureau received a second place in enterprise reporting in Division AA, the large station division, for their series, " Rising Violence Tests Sonora."
The three-part project explored the homicide surge in Sonora, Arizona's neighbor to the south — and what is being done about it.
PMJA's large station division is a competitive category, which includes news operations in major markets such as New York, Boston, Dallas and Chicago.
