Maricopa County Election Audit Finishes Counting Ballots

Volunteers and an outside firm hired by Arizona Senate Republicans have finished counting and photographing ballots from Maricopa County’s 2020 election.

The process of counting the county’s 2.1 million ballots began in late April. It is still unclear where the counted ballots are going, and whether they will be returned to the county.

The findings of the probe cannot overturn the election’s outcome.

The next phase of the analysis includes evaluating data from voting machines and election servers.

The review’s findings are still weeks away, expected sometime between late July and Labor Day in September.

But, with the counting concluded, auditors said they will leave Veterans Memorial Coliseum before Wednesday evening.
