Monsoon Madness: Arizona Researchers Create Fantasy Monsoon Game To Spread Awareness About Climate Change

While some Arizonans are standing by for legalized sports betting, others are anticipating fantasy monsoon.

Researchers at the Arizona Institute for Resilience at the University of Arizona want to get people engaged with the weather around us and the impacts of climate change, so they’ve devised a fantasy pool.

People can go to their website and predict the monthly rainfall totals and locations of monsoon squalls. Points are awarded and will be tallied at the end of the monsoon season.

The prize isn't a wad of cash or an umbrella, but a brand new home weather station so climate enthusiasts can track temperature, rainfall and barometric pressure from the comfort of their backyard.
