After the Fourth of July holiday, lost pets are flowing into the Maricopa County animal shelters.
Monica Gery with the county shelters, says they were so crowded on Monday, there was a line outside the building when they opened.
“We are at capacity at our west shelter, and we’ve been asking the public for help with adoption and actually fostering and any donations. We’re using our east shelter as [an] overflow shelter," Gery said.
Gery is asking that if you find lost pets, refrain from bringing them to the shelter for now.
She also says that for those who are looking for their pets, the west shelter holds them for 72 hours and people can also file a lost, or found, pet report on their website.
