Arizona Lawmakers Ready Proposals For 2022 Ballot

The 2022 election is still a long way away, but Arizona lawmakers have already decided to send several questions to the voters at the 2022 ballot.

Republican lawmakers want voters to allow a simple majority of lawmakers to scrap or tweak any initiative that is found to contain an illegal or unconstitutional provision — currently lawmakers can only tweak voter-approved laws with a three-fourths majority and then only to further the goals of the voter approved initiatives. They also want voters to limit future citizens’ initiatives to a single subject.

And a proposal to ask voters to grant in-state tuition to undocumented immigrants who went to high school here garnered bipartisan support at the Capitol this year and will go to the voters in 2022.

To talk about what questions lawmakers have already sent to the 2022 ballot, The Show spoke with Chuck Coughlin, CEO and president of HighGround Consulting.
