Half Of All Arizonans Have Been Vaccinated For COVID-19

Half of all Arizonans have now had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. But the state’s vaccination rate still lags behind the national average.

It’s been about six weeks since the U.S. reached the milestone of getting half the population vaccinated. Nationwide, the vaccination rate is  now more than 55%.

But some states' vaccination campaigns are quickly outpacing others'. 50% of Arizonans have had a shot as of this week, but more than 60% of our neighbors in New Mexico and California are already vaccinated.

Medical experts warn states with lower vaccination rates will be most at risk for another surge in cases and deaths as the highly contagious delta variant spreads.
