According to the latest unemployment statistics, Arizona’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rose from 6.7% in May to 6.8% in June.
Labor Market Information Director Doug Walls says that 0.1 of a percent accounts for almost 9,000 jobs.
“The Arizona nonfarm employment polls declined by 8,800 jobs. The private sector recorded job gains of 26,000, while the government sector recorded losses of 34,800,” said Walls.
Walls says most of the lost government jobs come from state and local education, while the private sector is gaining employees at an above average rate.
As of June, Arizona has recovered 91% of jobs lost during the pandemic.
