ADOT Begins Weekend Closures For First Phase Of Broadway Curve Construction

The first phase of a major construction project on the Broadway Curve begins at 10 p.m. Friday, with a weekend-long closure of westbound Interstate 10 between Loop 202 and U.S. 60.

The closure is the first of at least eight planned for I-10 or U.S. 60 this summer.

Arizona Department of Transportation’s Kimberly Noetzel says this phase of the project is preparation for larger improvements to the major I-10 interchange and will end in September.

“The work we’re doing right now in this first phase is the pre-construction activity to prepare for the actual construction project, so work would begin this fall and then continue through late 2024,” said Noetzel.

Noetzel says work on the first phase will occur mostly on weekends or overnight, and ADOT is working to ensure any upcoming construction doesn’t interfere with morning or evening traffic.

This weekend’s closure runs until 4 a.m. on Monday, July 26.
