Reporters March Demanding Justice For Slain Colleague; AG Promises Full Investigation

Sonoran reporters took to the streets this week, demanding justice for a recently slain colleague.

In front of the State Attorney’s Office earlier this week, a sizable group of Sonoran reporters chanted their demand for justice in the case of InfoGuaymas founder Ricardo Lopez.

He was gunned down in a Guaymas supermarket parking lot last week. Earlier this year, he publicly denounced threats made against him and said reporting in the port city had become extremely dangerous.

“We are going to follow every line of investigation,” said State Attorney Claudia Indira Contreras, who addressed the protesters, according to  videocaptured by Sonoran  reporterMilton Martínez. That includes the threats raised by Lopez himself before his murder. She confirmed that he had sent a formal complaint about those threats to federal law enforcement authorities.
