Buckeye Announced As Site For New Kore Power Factory

A global company headquartered in Idaho plans to build a factory in the West Valley and make storage cells for rechargeable batteries.

Kore Power said it hopes to break ground in Buckeye before the end of the year.

The company's CEO said at a news conference that Buckeye emerged from a multiyear search of hundreds of sites in different states, and he expects a new 1 million square foot facility to be manufacturing lithium-ion battery cells in the West Valley by 2023.

Lithium-ion batteries go into a variety of products, such as wireless headphones and electric cars.

The new Kore Power facility will be built just west of downtown Buckeye.

The mayor said the company is expected to create roughly 3,000 jobs in the coming years and become the city’s largest employer.
