Arizona Gas Prices Expected To Remain High All Summer

Gas prices have soared in 2021, and for Arizona commuters, they are expected to remain high through the summer.

AAA spokesman Aldo Vazquez says those high prices could be tied to concerns about increasing COVID-19 cases.

“Nationwide, on average, motorists are paying about 15 cents more per fill-up since the beginning of May, and August could prove to be even more expensive if global prices driven by the market concerns of rising COVID case numbers, and how that could affect global demand in the near future," Vazquez said.

Currently, the average price for a gallon of gas in Arizona is just under $3.15. For the week of Aug. 10, 2020, gas prices were at $2.30.
