Last month, Arizona Department of Health Services Director Dr. Cara Christ announced she would be resigning from the position, with her last day being Aug. 27.

Appointed by Gov. Ducey in 2015, she is the longest-serving director of the department.

The job has been a contentious one over the past 18 months as the state had battled its way out of being one of the leading COVID-19 hotspots in the nation.

The Ducey administration hasn’t named an interim director and has been quiet about the search for Christ’s replacement.

Will Humble is the executive director of the Arizona Public Health Association and a former director of Arizona’s Department of Health Services.

On Aug. 15, he took a look at the state’s requirements for the position and he tweeted his findings, which he described as straight out of the 1950s.

The Show spoke with him to learn more about what he learned.
