Water And Debris Flood The City Of Globe

Steady rains are causing serious flooding in the city of Globe, east of Phoenix. The water shut down U.S. 60 for part of the day and cut off access to the Cobre Valley Medical Center.

Water and debris is following the path of a burn scar in the Pinal Mountain range before flooding the streets of Globe.

Deputy Fire Chief David Bejarano says they have been responding to multiple calls for help. He says water overwhelmed a mobile home park so fast that people didn’t have time to react.

“Some of the homes were actually being lifted from their foundation, while people were still in the home,” he said.

Bejarano says the department went house to house rescuing residents. No injuries have been reported.

With more rain expected, he advises people in the area to stay home if possible and avoid the roadways.
