With the pandemic forcing people into isolation, the Arizona Department of Health Services has launched a public awareness campaign about the effects of social connection on mental and physical health.
The "Start a Conversation" campaign includes advertisements on social media and an informational website.
Dr. Cara Christ is the director of the Arizona Department of Health services and shared more about what this campaign's purpose is.
“We know that loneliness can have health effects, including depression. And what we want to encourage Arizonans to do is that everyone feels lonely at times and so we want to encourage Arizonans to start a conversation and to connect with people in order to become socially connected.”
Christ continues to encourage the community to visit the website and learn more about how to help those who struggle with social isolation.
The isolation caused by the pandemic has had clear effects, especially on Arizonans who may have already been experiencing a lack of social connection. Our new campaign encourages people to start a conversation. https://t.co/moAsG3Proq #PSA pic.twitter.com/Jh4hygwED5
