The National Park Service would like to reduce the number of brown trout in the Colorado River, so the agency is turning to anglers for help.
The Colorado River near Lees Ferry is known for its rainbow trout fishing.
It’s also home to native fish such as the endangered humpback chub.
But in recent years, biologists say, brown trout have moved into the area.

Brown trout are considered more aggressive than rainbows and more likely to prey on other fish, such as the chub.
So the National Park Service has put a bounty on brown trout.
Anglers can receive $33 for a fish more than 6 inches long.
Now it’s upping the ante. Some of the brown trout have tags, and during September and October, anglers can receive $300 for a tagged fish.
